Blue Mango Restaurant. Tavistock.

Blue Mango Origins

In early 2000 Linda Tonkin returned to Cornwall and, after identifying a need for good quality hand made breads, set up Blue Mango Speciality Breads. Following a long footslog of farmers markets and local shows Linda opened her first shop in Redruth which led to opening a shop in Truro's Lemon Street market. For several years the shop continued to supply high quality artisan breads, biscuits and muffins.

In 2004 Blue Mango won the Bakery category of the Waitrose Small Producer of the Year Awards and 'Supreme overall Champion'. In the same year Blue Mango collected a 'Gold' for their Cheese Biscuits in the 'UK Great Taste Awards'.

In 2006 Blue Mango had a change of direction. The shop in Truro closed so that Linda could share her passion for creating a good loaf by holding bread making classes at her home in Truro. The classes provided 'hands-on' learning in how to achieve consistently high quality results from a domestic or professional kitchen.

During this period Linda's desire to return to her 'restaurant kitchen' roots resurfaced and the plan to create 'Blue Mango - The Restuarant' was hatched. Which brings us up to 2009 and the opening of Blue Mango in Tavistock.
